About the VFA 146 Strike Fighter Squadron Blue Diamonds

Massachusetts businessman Kenneth Deroche leads a team of drivers who deliver Amazon packages to clients in the Merrimack Valley area through his logistics company, Double D Delivers, LLC, an Amazon Delivery Service Provider (DSP). Previously, Kenneth DeRoche served as an aviation captain in the United States Navy under the VFA 146 Strike Fighter Squadron “Blue Diamonds.”

The VFA 146 Strike Fighter Squadron received commission on February 1, 1956, as a unit under the United States Navy Air Group 14. At that time, the unit carried the nickname “Blacktails,” which alludes to its assigned color. At the onset, VFA 146 flew the F9F-8 Cougar and, later on, the FJ-4B Fury aircraft. In 1959, VFA 146 adopted “Blue Diamonds” as its new nickname.

The Blue Diamonds fly the most advanced strike fighter aircraft in the world, the F/A 18 Super Hornets. The unit received the Safe-for-Flight in the Super Hornets designation on May 26, 2015. Safe-for-Flight demonstrates the Blue Diamonds’ compliance with the right personnel and equipment requirements and safety and maintenance programs necessary for routine flight operations.

In addition to air superiority, the F/A 18 Super Hornet has superior features that are excellent for reconnaissance, fighter escort, close air support, day-or-night precision strike, and air refueling.
